About the Artists
Rachel Kelly [mezzo-soprano]
Kelly graduated from the Royal Opera House where she attracted attention for Zaida (Il turco in Italia), Javotte (Manon), Mercédès (Carmen), and Pisana (I due Foscari). Opera Today praised her Mirinda in L’Ormindo for its rich sensuality of voice and glowing warmth. Performances include Proserpina (Orfeo) at Roundhouse, Isolier (Le Comte Ory) with Opéra de Rennes and Opéra de Rouen Normandie, L’Eternità and Giunone in Cavalli’s La Calisto at Teatro Real, Mozart’s Requiem with the Ulster Orchestra, Rossini’s Sigismondo at Münchner Rundfunkorchester and performances at Wexford Festival Opera. Highlights include Idamante (Idomeneo) for Opera di Firenze, Annio (La clemenza di Tito) for Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) with Northern Ireland Opera, Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte) and Annio (La clemenza di Tito) for Glyndebourne. She was Medarse (Siroe) for Nationale Reisopera, Nerone (Agrippina) with the ICO, Sesto (Giulio Cesare) with the Early Opera Company.
Fiachra Garvey [piano]

1st prize-winner of the 2012 Jaques Samuel Intercollegiate Piano Competition and former NCH Rising Star, Fiachra Garvey ARAM, grew up on Móin Bhán in the Wicklow Mountains. Fiachra has obtained his Dip Mus, BA and MA degrees from the Royal Academy of Music London, the Royal Irish Academy of Music and received prizes at many international competitions including Dublin AXA, EU Prague and Collioure, France. Fiachra is the Founder and Artistic Director of the West Wicklow Festival. Since 2019 Fiachra has been appointed Artistic Director of Classical Vauxhall. Festival appearances include Wigmore Hall, Fazioli Hall, National Concert Hall Dublin, St Magnus Festival Orkney, West Cork Festival, Brighton Festival, Spoleto Festival, GOOGLE, Geneva Festival, Wexford Opera, Philia Hall Japan and Zhejiang Concert Hall China
About West Cork Chamber Music Festival
The West Cork Chamber Music Festival takes place annually in Bantry, County Cork. For ten days, from the last Friday in June, a world-class line-up of international ensembles and soloists perform an extensive programme of concerts which run from morning to late night. The two main venues are the intimate library of the historic Bantry House, which overlooks Bantry Bay; and St Brendan’s Church in the centre of Bantry. The Festival also includes a full schedule of performance workshops and masterclasses with resident student ensembles, composition workshops, public talks with artists as well as exhibitions and demonstrations from instrument makers.
